Half Term in London
As half-term approaches we have some suggestions to keep the whole family entertained in London.
The Magical Lantern Festival, Chiswick House and Gardens
This annual event to mark the end of Chinese New Year returns to Chiswick House and Gardens. This year’s theme is ‘Explore The Silk Road’, follow a trail featuring over 50 illuminated lanterns which represent and highlight this significant route of trade and culture from Europe to Ancient China, including the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, plus colourful scenes from India, Asia, the Middle East and the tale of Aladdin featuring a giant lantern genie.
Look out for the giant rooster lantern, celebrating the Chinese New Year of the Rooster.
There’s also an ice rink, a pop-up ice bar and street food stalls.

Kew Gardens’ Orchids Festival
Further west another Asian inspired festival is taking place. Kew Gardens’ Orchid Festival returns for it’s 22nd year, inspired by the vibrant colours, culture and plant life of India. Featuring giant floral displays created with exotic orchids, rickshaws, sound and film.
The festival includes behind the scenes tours, hands-on workshops and ‘Orchid Lates’ .
Science Museum, South Kensington
The Science Museum at South Kensington is the best place in London for the whole family to enjoy science, the world-class collection celebrates scientific, technological and medical achievements from across the globe, with plenty of interactive exhibits and an IMAX cinema, guaranteed to keep the whole family happy.
Throughout February Half-Term the museum are holding events catering to all age groups, from hands-on ‘Live Science’ drop is sessions to the ‘Our Lives in Data’ exhibition – find out how big data is transforming our world.
